Not applicable

In some cases the figure is deemed to be not appropriate or not applicable. In these cases the symbol, three dots (···) is displayed instead of a value.

The possible reasons for the use of the three dots (···) symbol are:

  • A value that cannot be calculated such as a percentage change where the denominator is zero;
  • Population ranks for areas that cross provincial boundaries, such as Ottawa - Gatineau. For example provincial ranks are not provided for these areas as the area spans two provinces and a provincial rank cannot be calculated for the entire area;
  • A figure is deemed inappropriate for areas that had a population and/or dwelling count amendment in 2001. Refer to the 2001 population and dwelling count amendments for further details.
