Data quality- In 2016, 13.7% of adults aged 15 and over living in private dwellings lived alone, 57.4% lived in a couple and 5.9% lived as a lone parent.
- 81.3% of persons living in a couple were married in 2016, while 18.7% were living common law.
- In 2016, the proportion of young adults aged 20 to 34 living with at least one parent was 32.9% compared to 31.8% in 2011.
- In 2016, there were 250 same-sex couples.
- In 2016, among couple census families 55.7% were families without children and 44.2% were families with children.

In Peterborough, 56.9% of the total population aged 15 and over were either married (46.5%) or living with a common-law partner (10.4%).
