In 2011, Coaldale (Town) had a population of 7,493, representing a percentage change of 21.3% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 7.95 square kilometres with a population density of 942.8 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 640,081.87 square kilometres with a population density of 5.7 persons per square kilometre.
