Footnote 1

The immigrant language spoken at home variable includes persons who reported speaking an immigrant language 'Only', 'Mostly', 'Equally' with another language and 'Regularly' with a language spoken most often at home, as well as persons who had 'No mention' of an immigrant language to the language spoken at home question.

The 'Only' category includes persons who reported only an immigrant language to Part A of the language spoken at home question and did not report a language to Part B. This category also includes persons who reported only an immigrant language to Part A of the language spoken at home question and who reported only an immigrant language to Part B.

The 'Mostly' category includes persons who reported only an immigrant language to Part A of the language spoken at home question and reported at least one non-immigrant language to Part B.

The 'Equally' category includes persons who reported an immigrant language and at least one other language to Part A of the language spoken at home question.

The 'Regularly' category includes persons who reported an immigrant language to only Part B of the language spoken at home question.

The 'No mention' category includes persons who did not report an immigrant language to Part A or Part B of the language spoken at home question.

'Immigrant language' refers to languages where the presence is initially atributed to immigration after the colonization of English and French.
