Immigrant Status
According to the 2021 Census, 1,089,180 people, that is, 41.8% of the population, were foreign-born (immigrants), 1,384,550 (53.1%) were Canadian-born (non-immigrants) and 133,275 (5.1%) were non-permanent residents.
Recent Immigrants
Among immigrants in 2021, 154,815 came between 2016 and 2021. These recent immigrants made up 14.2% of the immigrant population.

The top three places of birth among immigrants living in Vancouver (CMA) in 2021 were China, India, and the Philippines. Among recent immigrants living in Vancouver (CMA), they were India, China, and the Philippines.
