Immigrant Status

According to the 2021 Census, 257,620 people, that is, 19.7% of the population, were foreign-born (immigrants), 1,015,280 (77.7%) were Canadian-born (non-immigrants) and 34,285 (2.6%) were non-permanent residents.

Recent Immigrants

Among immigrants in 2021, 58,370 came between 2016 and 2021. These recent immigrants made up 22.7% of the immigrant population.

Place of birth

The top three places of birth among immigrants living in Manitoba in 2021 were the Philippines, India, and the United Kingdom. Among recent immigrants living in Manitoba, they were India, the Philippines, and Nigeria.
