Health Profile – Different period estimates available

Canadian Community Health Survey data

Most of the data from the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) shown in the Health Profile are based on the 2011-2012 combined cycle of CCHS core content (CANSIM table 105-0502). As of June 2011, this data will be updated only every second year. The two-year combined data has high precision (less variability), with a representative sample of approximately 130,000 Canadians.

Vital Statistics and cancer data

Health region level data based on births, deaths and cancer reflect three years combined. These sub-provincial estimates are produced occasionally and therefore do not reflect the latest available statistics from these sources in some cases.

More current annual data, at the Canada and province/territory level, are routinely disseminated and available in the following Statistics Canada publications: Births, Deaths, Causes of Death, Leading Causes of Deaths, Mortality Summary List of Causes and Cancer Incidence.
