Corrections and updates: Components of Migration (In- and Out-)
Product affected
Revised date
July 25, 2013
Issue
Concept:
These two tables measure components in- and out- of migration for the following three geographies: provinces, census metropolitan areas (CMA) and census agglomerations (CA), presented as follows:
- Total in-migrants
- Intraprovincial in-migrants
- Interprovincial in-migrants
- External in-migrants
- Total out-migrants
- Intraprovincial out-migrants
- Interprovincial out-migrants
Problems:
- The number of intraprovincial in-migrants for the CMA/CA includes the intraprovincial migrants within the CMA/CA but they should not have been included. The total number of intraprovincial in-migrants is affected. The problem affects the two tables with components of migration (1 and 5 years).
- The number of intraprovincial out-migrants for the CMA/CA includes the intraprovincial migrants within the CMA/CA but they should not have been included. The total number of intraprovincial out-migrants is affected. The problem affects the two tables with components of migration (1 and 5 years).
- The counts for Cape Breton and New Brunswick were inverted. The problem affects the two tables with components of migration (1 and 5 years).
Resolution
The tables were re-run to exclude the intraprovincial migrants (in- and out-) within the CMA/CA and the ordering of the data for Cape Breton and New Brunswick has been corrected.
