In 2011, Sylvan Lake (Town) had a population of 12,327, representing a percentage change of 20.3% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 15.62 square kilometres with a population density of 789.4 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 640,081.87 square kilometres with a population density of 5.7 persons per square kilometre.
