In 2011, Hawkesbury (Town) had a population of 10,551, representing a percentage change of -2.9% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

In Hawkesbury, 15.3% of the population reported English only as mother tongue, 78.6% reported French only, and 3.7% reported a non-official language only, in 2011. In comparison, the provincial / territorial percentages were 68.2% for English only, 3.9% for French only and 25.7% for only non-official languages.
