In 2011, Alfred and Plantagenet (Township) had a population of 9,196, representing a percentage change of 6.3% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 392.45 square kilometres with a population density of 23.4 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 908,607.67 square kilometres with a population density of 14.1 persons per square kilometre.
