In 2011, Châteauguay (Ville) had a population of 45,904, representing a percentage change of 7.3% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 35.89 square kilometres with a population density of 1,278.9 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 1,356,547.02 square kilometres with a population density of 5.8 persons per square kilometre.

In 2011, Châteauguay (Ville) had 17,907 private dwellings occupied by usual residents. The change in private dwellings occupied by usual residents from 2006 was 10.1%. For Canada as a whole, the number of private dwellings occupied by usual residents increased 7.1%.
