In 2011, La Prairie (Ville) had a population of 23,357, representing a percentage change of 7.3% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 43.28 square kilometres with a population density of 539.7 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 1,356,547.02 square kilometres with a population density of 5.8 persons per square kilometre.
