In 2011, Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine (Municipalité) had a population of 12,291, representing a percentage change of -2.1% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 168.11 square kilometres with a population density of 73.1 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 1,356,547.02 square kilometres with a population density of 5.8 persons per square kilometre.

Families and households

In 2011, the number of census families2 in Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine was 3,835, which represents a change of -0.1% from 2006. This compares to a growth rate for Canada of 5.5% over the same period.
