In 2011, Sainte-Sophie (Municipalité) had a population of 13,375, representing a percentage change of 29.2% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 111.28 square kilometres with a population density of 120.2 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 1,356,547.02 square kilometres with a population density of 5.8 persons per square kilometre.

In 2011, Sainte-Sophie (Municipalité) had 5,162 private dwellings occupied by usual residents. The change in private dwellings occupied by usual residents from 2006 was 31.6%. For Canada as a whole, the number of private dwellings occupied by usual residents increased 7.1%.
