In 2011, Petawawa (Town) had a population of 15,988, representing a percentage change of 9.1% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 164.68 square kilometres with a population density of 97.1 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 908,607.67 square kilometres with a population density of 14.1 persons per square kilometre.
