In 2011, Contrecoeur (Ville) had a population of 6,252, representing a percentage change of 10.1% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 61.19 square kilometres with a population density of 102.2 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 1,356,547.02 square kilometres with a population density of 5.8 persons per square kilometre.
